Robert Healy, who?s an engineering construction consultant at Burns & McDonnellMo., addressed the conference, saying that algae crops are a thing of the future. Healy said that in addition to the use of algae in the coal burning sector, the substance can be processed in biodiesel fuels. But Healy also warned that algae are not 100% effective scrubbing power utilities' carbon emissions.

Portable biodiesel extruder helps on-farm biodiesel

Farmers on the panhandle of Florida can now make their own biodiesel on the farm with the help of the Three Rivers Resource Conservation and Development Council (RC&D) in Milton through USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service. The council recently invested in a portable biodiesel extruder that can be taken out to local farms to make biodiesel from plants and used cooking oil, according to Coordinator John Harper. - Read More
