Shell, Anglo American delay clean-coal plan
Shell and Anglo American will shelve development of an Australian-based clean-coal-to-liquids project worth $5 billion. The high price of capital and increased construction costs were the main reasons behind the mining and energy giants' move. The technology used for the Monash project also allowed a concentrated stream of CO2 to be separated from the fuel transported to injection wells in deep underground geological formations for secure storage. - Read More

But none of the projects thus far have produced any results. Oxyfuel Technology - Germany leads 'clean coal' pilot
The pilot carbon capture and storage (CCS) power plant at Schwarze Pumpe uses "oxyfuel" technology. Oxyfuel combustion involves burning the coal in nearly pure oxygen rather than the air/coal mix currently used in conventional power plants. - Read More
