For larger accounts, selling prices for CO2 in the merchant market can range from $30 to $120 per ton (delivered bases), depending on the region. CO2 is fairly sensitive to freight. Beyond a certain distance, rail is often employed. Direct sales by an ethanol plant, particularly into a niche market, can yield greater profits than sales to a refiner. Raw gas values can range from $3 to $25 per ton, again depending upon the region.
