Magnitude of CO2 sequestration required
The three show case projects currently (2008) with a lot of difficulty are managing to store 1 million T of CO2 a year each. The US alone emits 1.5 billion T of CO2 every year! This will mean 1500 such sites! The cost could also be high: 25 $ for capture & sequestration, $5 for transport to burial site (MIT report, 2007).
