Sugar companies make more money from cogeneration than from sugar
Out of 650-odd sugar mills in India, 107 have CHP plants. This revenue has managed to bail sugar mills reeling from falling sugar prices. The Dhampur Sugar Mills in UP, which has largest cogeneration capacity in India, made Rs.420 million from its cogeneration in 07-08, compared to Rs.110 million from sugar! Whale inspired wind turbine blades report 20% higher output
Toronto-based WhalePower, maker of the tubercle-lined turbine blades inspired by humpback whale flippers, got the results back from its first independent study in the field. The blade design was tested on a 25-kilowatt Wenvor Technologies turbine at the Wind Energy Institute of Canada.
