Brazil to add 246 new ethanol plants by 2017 as domestic demand increases 150 %
In Brazil, the state-owned Energy Research Corporation said that the country would invest $25 billion in new ethanol capacity as domestic demand increased by 150 percent over the next decade. Bunge, Itochu in Brazilian Ethanol Investment
In Brazil, Bunge and Japanese trading firm Itochu annoucned that they will invest $800 million in a pair of Brazilian ethanol and sugar mill operations. Itochu said that it will take a 20 percent stake in the Santa Juliana plant in Minas Gerais acquired originally by Bunge in 2007, and the two companies will construct a second sugar mill with undisclosed capacity. The Santa Juliana plant capacity will be expanded to 4.2 million tonnes of cane, from 1.6 million today. - Read More
