Zambo Norte launches Jatropha plantation in Philippines
The province of Zamboanga del Norte Governor is strongly pushing for Jatropha. The municipalities identified for the production of Jatropha include Salug, Godod and Leopn Postigo. The Green Agro Corporation expressed its interest in buying jatropha while Philippine Oil Corporation has assured the capital for planting. The ZaNorte Environment and Management Office and Dept of Environment and Natural Resources will identify areas which will be planted. - Read More

Philippines drawing up guidelines for jatropha plantations
Officials of the Department of Agriculture said the agency has started drawing up guidelines for converting farms into jatropha plantations. Pedro Jerry Baliang, DA Cordillera assistant director, said the government does not want to compromise food security. “We do not want to sacrifice agricultural lands,” he said. Baliang said the DA and the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources are concluding an agreement on identifying zones for jatropha. - Read More
