Sugar companies make more money from cogeneration than from sugar
Out of 650-odd sugar mills in India, 107 have CHP plants. This revenue has managed to bail sugar mills reeling from falling sugar prices. Bagasse, CHP and India energy deficit
The International Energy Agency says that the sugar sector has a potential to produce 5,100 MW of power through cogeneration, which is 69 percent of total cogeneration capacity.
