Short rotation coppice and sustainable forestry

Many types of softwood like Maple, Box Elder, Poplar, etc will re-grow from their stumps after trunks are cut. This means root structure is in place after harvest - no replanting, re-growth vigorous. This means it is possible to set rotational stand of trees where one section is cut every year--you cut the 1st section, then move to the second next year while first grows.
