Non-catalytic superheated methanol method for producing biodiesel
A Japanese group produced pilot-scale biodiesel by "non-catalytic superheated methanol method" (National Food Research Institute (NFRI), Univ of Tokyo, Univ of Shiga Prefecture & Kajima Corp ). Currently, methyl esterification is used which requires complex refining & lot of water for cleaning. In new method, FAME produced by reacting oil at high temp and methanol vapor. The method doesnt require catalyst or supercritical condition, produces no waste water or liquid, yields glycerin as byproduct - Read More
