Cos reserving tracts of water bodies for wave energy
Tech that would draw energy from ocean tides is largely untested, but several companies are reserving tracts of water from Alaska's Cook Inlet to Manhattan's East River in belief that such sites could generate electricity. Seattle Company Having Ambitious Wave Energy Plans
A Seattle company is hoping to convert the motion of the ocean into electricity. Grays Harbor Ocean Energy Company has asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for permits to harness energy from waves off the coastline of six states. In all, the company would build seven harnessing sites — in federal waters off California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island — each covering about 100 square miles. - Read More

PG&E signs wave-energy agreement
Pacific Gas and Electric Co. has signed the nation's first commercial agreement to buy electricity generated from ocean waves from a project that has not yet been constructed. Vancouver, British Columbia-based Finavera Renewables Inc. (TSX-V: FVR) plans to build the two-megawatt project about 2.5 miles off the coast of northern Humboldt County.
