New Compact Turbine Could Triple Wind Power Output
Normally wind turbines lose up to 39.7 % of potential energy because wind not only flows through the blades, but is also directed away from the turbine. The new FloDesign Wind Turbine takes cues from jet engine designs to minimize this wasted energy. It has enshrouded the moving blades with stationary blades that propel wind towards the rotor. The turbnie can automatically align to the wind direction and has been tested to be effective from up to 20 degrees away. - Read More

Theoretical maximum of a wind turbine
The theoretical maximum of a turbine, as worked out by Albert Betz in the early 20th century, is 59.3%. Modern turbines get surprisingly close to that, being about 50% efficient
